Kevin Spacey received an accolade for his recent role in the film Control. Control follows a secretary whose self-driving car gets hacked when on her way home after visiting the prime minister for an affair. Directed and written by Gene Fallaize, Control stars Lauren Metcalfe, Mark Hampton, and Natasha Kemball, alongside Spacey.
The role that Spacey is awarded for is specifically his vocal performance, as he lends only his voice to the film. The award was from the Folkestone Independent Film Awards, specifically for the thriller performance category.
This isn’t the first time Spacey has won an award for his acting, either. He won the Oscar for Best Actor in 2000 for his role in American Beauty and also took home Best Supporting Actor for The Usual Suspects in 1995.
However, as Variety points out, Spacey’s career took an unfortunate turn. In 2017, sexual assault allegations were leveled against him by Anthony Rapp, which saw him receive less and less work as time went on. This award is the first that he’s won since then. Despite Rapp coming out unsuccessful in a lawsuit against Spacey, he still had to go to court due to several other sexual assault charges.
