One of the most interesting trends to observe in the last couple of months is the creative ways people have found to see their beloved movies. As a result of the coronavirus pandemic, most traditional theaters across the country have been shuttered, leading to the resurgence in drive in theaters and now creating a new floating cinema in a few cities across the US.
According to the Gazette, a new floating cinema will be coming to the Mile High City of Denver, containing social distancing boats. These boats will hold a considerable amount of people who will be able to enjoy free concessions, “It will be made up of 12 to 24 mini boats that hold up to eight people. There will be free popcorn, plus additional snacks and drinks available for purchase.”
The floating cinema is the brainchild of Australian event company Beyond Cinema and audiences will be able to see a mix of old and new movies with other details on the new viewing experience to be announced later, ” Beyond Cinema says the floating cinema will feature a mix of “golden oldies and new releases.” The lineup of films is expected to be unveiled when tickets go on sale. There are also plans to launch the program in Los Angeles, San Diego, Orlando, Pittsburgh, St. Louis, Houston, Chicago, Miami, New York, Austin, Cleveland, Philadelphia, Columbus, and Cincinnati.
When tickets go on sale has not been announced, but the event will begin on September 2nd and run throughout the month.
