‘First Wives Club’ Cast Reunites For Comedy Film ‘Family Jewels’

New Republic Pictures has officially acquired the rights to Peter Hoare’s Family Jewels, a multigenerational family comedy that reunites an iconic trio consisting Goldie Hawn, Bette Midler and Diane Keaton according to DeadlineFamily Jewels marks the first time in 24 years the three actresses share the silver screen together since the critically acclaimed The First Wives Club released in 1996.

The story of Family Jewels stars Hawn, Midler and Keaton as three women stuck spending Christmas together with the company of their children and grandchildren. The women are brought together following the death of a man they were all previously married to who died in New York City shopping. New Republic is targeting a production commencement date sometime this year. Hoare will be responsible for penning the screenplay. In house staff members Brian Oliver and Bradley Fischer will be tasked with producing, next to Alan Nevins. Tracey Nyberg will also serve as an executive producer on the project.

“The chemistry of Diane, Bette and Goldie is unmatched and irresistible, and I’m thrilled to help reunite them on screen for generations of fans,” exclaimed Fischer.“This movie fits perfectly in our plan to finance and produce four to six major studio theatricals a year and puts movie stars back where they ought to be – on the big screen,” included Oliver.

Aside from Hawn, Midler and Keaton, there have been no further castings for the project.
