First Trailer for Sebastián Lelio’s ‘Gloria Bell’

Chilean-Argentine director and screenwriter Sebastián Lelio Watt’s new film Gloria Bell debuted its first trailer today. The film is a reimagining, in english, of Lelio’s 2013 Chilean-Spanish drama film Gloria which garnered much critical acclaim. Julianne Moore takes the lead role of Gloria alongside other big names such as John Turturro, Michael Cera, Rita Wilson, and Sean Astin.

The film follows Gloria, a recently divorced middle aged white collar worker by day and a Los Angeles club hopper by night. As we see in the trailer, she has a love of dancing and is trying to reinvigorate her life rather than simply age away. One night, she meets a man named Arnold (Turturro) who seems to accomplish that for her, bringing her new romance as well as a slew of personal identity and familial issues. Leilo is known for his depictions of human relationships in his acclaimed movies such as A Fantastic Woman which won Best Foreign Language Film at the 90th Academy Awards.

Gloria Bell had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 7th of this year, which is why there are already a number of reviews out by various outlets. These reviews praise the movie for its performances, especially Moore’s, and the wonderful, heartfelt story.

The film will see a US release on March 8 of next year with A24 distributing it.

Robert Thornson Jr.: My name is Robert and I am currently an undergraduate student at the University of California Irvine. I am pursuing a B.A. in Film and Media studies with hopes to work in the creative industry. I have always had a passion for storytelling and since youth I've loved film. I grew up loving the movies of directors like Wes Anderson, Stanley Kubrick, Alfred Hitchcock, Martin Scorsese, David Fincher, and many more along with writers such as Aaron Sorkin and Quentin Tarantino. One thing I have always done is write about movies and communicate to others information about the "film community" and the industry as well as about the films themselves. I write creatively on a daily basis.
