The first official trailer for Jordan Firstman’s (I Love LA) feature directorial debut, Club Kid, was released today. Firstman will also star in the film.
This A24 film follows Firstman as a club promoter in New York who finds out he has a 10 year old kid. The trailer begins with Firstman’s character Peter singing a cover of Ethel Cain’s Thoroughfare with his son Arlo. The two start to come together in the song and clips of Peter’s life are played in the background, with a shot of him at a club and people doing drugs at a party in an industrial apartment. The trailer transitions into Cain’s version and more clips of Peter are shown—including a scene of him and his son eating dinner together and a scene of him breaking the news that he has a kid to a group of party goers.
The rest of the trailer shows Peter having deep conversations with his child, admitting to him, “I don’t really like myself a lot of the time.” He also tells him,”Since you got here, I’ve been feeling better about myself.” After that more clips show the journey the two are going to go on, and ends with them bonding over cursing in the park. The movie will debut in theaters this November.
