He is back! After a week of heavy promotion including a “living one-sheet” motion poster and a teaser trailer, the first official trailer for Terminator Genisys has finally dropped online.
The British Terminator Genisys website posted the trailer to Facebook in advance of its scheduled release on the film’s official website. The film revisits the history of the franchise, stretching back to the 1984 original. In the new movie, 2029’s John Connor, portrayed by Jason Clarke (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes), sends his best friend back in time to protect his mother, Sarah Connor (Emilia Clarke from TV’s Game of Thrones). The original Terminator, Arnold Schwarzenegger, has been protecting the young Sarah in a time-warped, time-travel twist as the film breaks all the rules of the space-time continuum.
Alan Taylor (Thor: The Dark World) is directing the Paramount and Skydance production from a script by Laeta Kalogridis (Shutter Island) and Patrick Lussier (Drive Angry). The film is slated for a July 1, 2015 release. After the trailer’s release, Skydance Productions revealed the film’s official poster on Twitter, as seen above.
