On Thursday, Shazam director David S. Samberg released the first new glimpses of Zachary Levi as the title character in the upcoming sequel. The teaser is very short, only showing brief glimpses of Shazam’s costume before showing him in a silhouette.
The same day, images were released from the set of the film, with Levi decked out in the new suit which features a smaller lighting bolt on the chest than the first, as well as a gold band around his waist.

Shazam! Fury of the Gods is written by Henry Gayden and is directed by David S. Samberg. In addition to Levi, the film will star a large supporting cast consisting of Asher Angel, Jack Dylan Grazer, Adam Brody, Faithe Herman, Meagan Good, Grace Fulton, Michelle Borth, Ian Chen, Ross Butler, Jovan Armand, D.J. Cotrona, Marta Milans, and Cooper Andrews. The film will also be introducing Helen Miran and Lucy Liu into the franchise as Hespera and Kalypso respectively.
The first Shazam film was a critical success for DC films with a 90% critics rating on Rotten Tomatoes, making it much better received than most recent DC comic book adaptations. It was also successful at the box office, bringing in $366M worldwide after being made with a budget of only $62M.
Shazam! Fury of the Gods is set to be released in theaters on June 2, 2023. You can check out Samberg’s sneak peak at the film below:
