First Look: Redford and Fonda Reunite for Netflix’s ‘Our Souls at Night’

Veteran actors and Academy Award winners Robert Redford (Pete’s Dragon) and Jane Fonda (Netflix’s Grace and Frankie) will reunite for Netflix’s Our Souls at Night. Netflix has released a first-look image; check it out below:

Ritesh Batra (The Sense of an Ending) helms from a screenplay written by Kent Haruf, Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber based on Haruf’s 2015 novel of the same name. The story centers on a widow Addie Moore (Fonda) and a widower Louis Waters (Redford) who have been neighbors for decades but have not had much contact through the years. Addie reaches out to Louis to establish a deeper connection. Academy Award-nominated actor Bruce Dern (The Hateful Eight) re-teams here with Fonda and Redford; he co-starred with Fonda in 1978’s Coming Home, and co-starred with Redford in 1947’s The Great Gatsby. Rounding out the cast are Judy Greer (All We Had), Matthias Schoenaerts (A Bigger Splash) and Iain Armitage (The Glass Castle).

Fonda and Redford have appeared together on the big screen three times before: first in the 1966 thriller The Chase starring Academy Award winner and legendary actor Marlon Brando (The Godfather), then starring as newlyweds in the 1967 Neil Simon comedy Barefoot in the Park, and finally in the 1979 western-adventure romance The Electric Horseman.

Our Souls at Night will debut in 2017.
