People magazine released a first look at Ready Or Not: Here I Come today, with Searchlight Pictures indicating a trailer release is coming December 3.  Samara Weaving is returning in all of her blood, gore, and glory as Grace.  Kathryn Newton is also coming on to star in the sequel, playing Grace’s younger sister, Faith.

While not much has been revealed about the plot, it is safe to assume we will be picking right where the first film left off or very shortly after Grace’s wedding night.  The images released today depict Grace and Faith escaping danger and running through a field and hiding out in an office space.  We also get a look at the Danforth family that will take over in the space occupied by the Le Domas family in the first film.  Sarah Michelle Geller will play Ursula Danforth, Shawn Hatosy will play Titus Danforth, and David Cronenberg will play Mr. Danforth.  Some of the other actors attached to the project and appearing in our first look pictures are: Nestor Carbonell, Elijah Wood, Dan Beirne, Olivia Cheng, and Varun Saranga.

Behind the camera, Ready Or Not: Here I Come sees a large number of returning crew members from the first film.  Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett are returning to direct, Guy Busick and R. Christopher Murphy are returning as writers, and Brett Jutkiewicz is returning as cinematographer.  Weaving expressed her excitement about the returning crew in a quote about her feelings on the sequel.

I was a bit nervous and not sure if I would remember what I was doing in the first one, but once I put that dress back on, I got super excited. The entire character came flooding back. We were all quite emotional in that fitting, actually. Revisiting the character is one thing but working with that crew again was the best part.

[Ready or Not 2 is] so unhinged, absolutely cooked — you’re gonna love it. Those sicko writers came up with a way in that’s somehow both a natural progression and very surprising.

Co-directors Bettinelli-Olpin and Gillett emphasized that they wanted the sequel to be a fresh new take on this world, while also remaining true to the loyal fans of the first film.  Weaving’s first outing as Grace was confined to just a mansion, so we can already tell from our first looks that the scope of her story is going to expand dramatically.  Stay tuned into MXDWN for any updates as we get closer to the film’s release in theaters on April 10, 2026.
