First Full Trailer of ‘American Hustle’

American Hustle, the latest film written and directed by three-time Oscar nominee David O. Russell, premieres its first full trailer after making a splash with its flashy teaser trailer that debuted this past summer.  The film, which chronicles the infamous ABSCAM case of the 70s and 80s features an all star cast of past Russell alums Christian Bale, Amy Adams, Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence and Robert De Niro – all of whom received Academy Award nominations for past collaborations with the writer/director; Bale and Lawrence won statues.  Jeremy Renner, Louis C.K. and Michael Pena co-star  American Hustle was co-written by Eric Warren Singer.

The film is a fictionalized take on the real-life FBI case that involved government employees.  The case started as an investigation on stolen piece of artwork that later expanded into political corruption.  The script, original titled American Bulls**t was listed on the 2010 Black List, an industry listing of the best un-produced screenplays.

The film remains one of the biggest unknowns of the holidays movie season as well as one of the biggest awards hopefuls, considering the success of Russell’s two previous films The Fighter and Silver Linings Playbook.  Bypassing the festival route due to ongoing post-production work, the film opens Christmas Day and likely won’t be seen in any capacity much earlier than then.
