Buckle up! The first trailer for The Fate of the Furious, the eighth installment in the car enthusiast Fast and Furious franchise, takes car chases, crashes, and stunts to a whole new level – if it’s even possible at this point.
Directed by F. Gary Gray and starring Vin Diesel in his returning role as Dominic Torreto, the film follows the now solo protagonist after his sister Mia (Jordana Brewster) and brother-in-law Brian (the late Paul Walker) have retired from the fast-life to settle down with their baby. Dom hasn’t slowed down at all though, as he is seduced back into life of crime by a mysterious and dangerous woman (Charlize Theron, looking questionable or bad-ass depending on your perspective). Staying in line with the series’ theme of family ties, it is family that is once again on the line for Dom. This time, his adventures will take him from Cuba to New York City and all the way to the arctic.
Rejoining the cast is Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Chris Bridges, Dwayne Johnson, Jason Statham, Kurt Russell, and Nathalie Emmanuel in noticeably increased role. New to the cast is Scott Eastwood (also a personal friend of Walker’s) and Helen Mirren, who unfortunately does not appear in the trailer.
