Stranger Things’ Finn Wolfhard has joined the cast of the upcoming onscreen adaption of Donna Tartt’s 2013 novel The Goldfinch, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The Goldfinch’s production team has been hard at work casting who will portray the characters in the John Crowley-directed (Brooklyn) adaptation. Along with hiring Wolfhard, they have also signed Ansel Elgort, fresh off of the successful hit Baby Driver, to play main lead Theo Decker.
The supporting cast is rounded out by big names such as Jeffrey Wright (The Hunger Games), Sarah Paulson (The Post), Aneurin Barnard (Dunkirk), and Luke Wilson (Legally Blonde). They will feature in the storylines surrounding Theo as both an adult and a young child when, after the tragic and violent passing of his mother, Theo finds a home with a rich family. Sadly his acceptance there only leads him into more trouble as he gets deeper and deeper into the chaotic art scene, and Wolfhard’s character Young Boris, an exchange student, contributes to the wild nature of Theo’s new life.
Amazon Studios and Warner Bros. are producing the film, which will hit theaters starting on October 11, 2019.
