Female-Led Peter Pan Movie Casts its “Lost Girls”

The Lost Girls is an upcoming movie based on the Peter Pan stories originally created by J.M. Barrie. Most people became familiar with the character of Peter Pan and his mythos through Disney’s 1953 animated adaptation, which was simply titled Peter Pan. And, while it’s true that Disney is planning on remaking their animated Peter Pan movie, The Lost Girls is not actually a Disney movie. Myriad Pictures will be responsible for distributing the film.

As the title suggests, The Lost Girls is based on the novel of the same name by Laurie Fox. The movie will have a heavy female-centric focus, following the story of the female members of the Darlings across four different generations. In this movie, ageless Neverland boy Peter Pan comes into contact with Wendy Darling, her mother, and her grandmother. But when Wendy grows up and has a daughter of her own named Berry, she starts to worry that Peter will return and harm her relationship with Berry.

Livia De Paolis will be playing the role of an adult Wendy Darling. Other cast members include Ellen Burstyn as Wendy’s grandmother, Emma Thompson as as her mother Jane and Gai Wise as play Berry, Wendy’s daughter. Not only is De Paolis starring in the movie, but she will also be directing The Lost Girls and is responsible for adapting the script.
