In the summer of 2001, Universal Pictures released a typical car enthusiast crime action/drama called The Fast and The Furious. Little did the studio know that the films startup fan base would exponentially grow into a well oiled machine of multiple sequels and box office records.
With the success of Furious 7, the latest installment in the global movie franchise, Universal Pictures has set release dates for its ninth and tenth films. April 19, 2019 will serve as the time slot for the ninth sequel and April 2, 2021 will showcase the presumed concluding film of the series.
Fast 8 will continue following Vin Diesel‘s Dominic Toretto and his crew in new territories with most of the main cast reprising their popular roles. F. Gary Gray, fresh off of directing the surprise hit Straight Outta Compton, will direct the film set to release April 14, 2017.
After the initial story line in Los Angeles, the series has expanded internationally each film. From Brazil, to Abu Dabhi, to London, it’s safe to say Fast & Furious has manifested a worldwide audience over the last two decades.
