Fast & Furious 9, or F9, has officially been announced as the mystery blockbuster that will be playing at this year’s Cannes film festival. This is the 9th installment in the Fast & Furious franchise, and after being delayed numerous times due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it is finally starting to debut around the world.
The film was already a huge box office success, when it was released in China and other territories. However, in North America, F9 won’t arrive until later this month.
After being cancelled last year due to the coronavirus pandemic, the Cannes Film Festival will take place next month, from July 6 through 17. The official lineup was revealed last week, but they announced a “planetary blockbuster” that will play specially on the beach.
After a week of speculation, it has been confirmed by Screen Rant that Fast & Furious 9 is the mystery film that will make its French debut at Cannes. The film will be shown in a special beachfront public screening that will be attended by locals and delegates.
F9 will feature original cast members including Vin Diesel, John Cena, and Michelle Rodriguez. The cast will not attend the screening. Fast & Furious 9 will then arrive in theaters on July 14.
