Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore from Warner Bros has confirmed its release date in China for April 8th, making it the first film debut in the country for quite some time, as reported by Deadline. The date falls before the domestic one but still follows the UK and a handful of other overseas markets. The Warner Bros Weibo account confirmed the news after a post was made this morning, along with a new poster for the film. After this news release, Warner Bros will have a full month to market and promote the third installment in the Fantastic Beasts franchise in China. Although this used to be the norm, over the past few years, we have seen it become an elusive luxury to promote overseas for that long.
It was only a few days ago that China cleared the film for a release in the market considering this is only the third film from the studio to be granted actress, following only The Matric Resurrections which opened in January, and The Batman which will open on March 18th overseas. Due to the fact that a reduced number of Hollywood movies have been granted release in Chinese markets across 2021, whether this trend will continue remains a mystery. Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore will hit theaters in the U.S. on April 15th.
