The third and last lineup of films showing at the 2014 Fantasia International Film Festival is here. Film nerds – and other kinds of nerds – will want to take note. The festival in Montreal will be hosting the North American premiere of Japanese Animation director, Shinji Aramaki’s latest entry in his Appleseed film series, Appleseed Alpha. Not enough anime for you? How about the international premiere of Keishi Otomo’s live-action adaptation of Rurouni Kenshin, Rurouni Kenshin: Kyoto Inferno?Still not enough to get your geek fix? Then listen to this: not one but two movies based on video games, Bayonetta: Bloody Fate and Heavenly Sword (world premiere). Think Fantasia can’t do any better? It sees your bet and raises you To Be Takei (yes, that is a documentary about the George Takei).
Additionally, Fantasia will be showing the latest works of cinema giants Terry Gilliam (The Zero Theorem) and Takashi Miike (The Mole Song – Undercover Agent Reiji)
If any of these names or titles are striking your film nerve (everyone’s got one of those right?) then head to Quebec sometime betweeen July 17th and August 5th this year.
