The cast announcement for Avengers: Doomsday has generated quite the buzz among fans. However, the omission of one friendly neighborhood wall-crawler has gotten people talking just as much as those who are in attendance.
On Wednesday, the cast for Avengers: Doomsday was confirmed by Marvel themselves, as well as the announcement that production is underway. The wide variety of characters includes those established already in the MCU, like Chris Hemsworth’s Thor and Anthony Mackie’s Captain America, as well as some surprises of returning cast members from the older X-Men films.
However, one name not in the lineup was Tom Holland, who plays Spider-Man. Fans were quick to pick up on this as Holland’s Spider-Man had been a critical character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe since his 2016 debut in Captain America: Civil War.
However, there is a reason for this as The Insneider noted. In their initial report, they stated that Holland not being on the cast list for Doomsday has something to do with the “character’s schedule.”
Similarly, the solution comes into perspective even greater with a detail from Screenrant. While Avengers: Doomsday is expected May 1st of 2026, the fourth Spider-Man film is scheduled to swing into theaters some two months after in July.
Back when Avengers: Infinity War came out, something similar happened with none other than Ant-Man. While he had already worked with the Avengers before, he was absent from the lineup of heroes in Infinity War. But the movie after, Ant-Man And The Wasp, showed why Ant-Man wasn’t in Infinity War, with the post credit scene playing directly into both the fallout of Infinity War and the start of Endgame.
