‘Exodus: Gods and Kings’ Extended Trailer Sets Stage for Another Biblical Epic

2014 seems to be the year for Hollywood adaptations of the Holy Bible. Ridley Scott’s 3D epic Exodus: Gods and Kings follows Christian Bale’s Moses as he sets out to free the Jewish people from slavery in Egypt, complete with chariot battles and the infamous plagues.Readers can now view the official, extended trailer, as well as the teaser released back in July (which mxdwn Movies covered here). ‘Exodus’ will be following other biblical epics, including Noah from earlier this year and Left Behind, a movie featuring the biblical Rapture and starring Nicolas Cage, premiering tomorrow (October 3rd).

Moses and Ramses’ relationship is also shown more than in the first trailer, depicting once loving brothers set against each other.

The movie stars Christian Bale (‘The Dark Knight’, ‘American Hustle’) as Moses and Joel Edgerton (‘The Great Gatsby’, ‘Zero Dark Thirty’) as Pharoah Ramses. Other stars include Sigourney Weaver (‘Alien’, ‘Avatar’), Ben Kingsley (‘Iron Man 3’, ‘Prince of Persia: Sands of Time’), and John Turturro (‘Transformers’), none of whom are strangers to big special effects movies – though viewers might question the choice of ethnicity in Bale and Weaver’s characters in a story set in the Middle East and Africa.

In the extended trailer Moses and Ramses’ relationship is  shown more than in the first one, depicting once loving brothers set against each other.

Director by Ridley Scott (Gladiator, Kingdom of Heaven, and Robin Hood) is no stranger to big-budget epics and could very well deliver on this latest one. Exodus: Gods and Kings is set to premiere in 3D and large format theaters on December 12th – in time for a few religious holidays.
