Morena Baccarin told host Josh Wilding in an interview that she would be returning as Vanessa in Deadpool 3. She said, “I finished my shooting days on it, already. I think the film is now underway again after the strike and I think it’s going to be quite good!”
Wilding also asked Baccarin if she would appear as a comic-accurate Copycat, to which she laughed stating, “I think yes. But, I think she’s also competing with a very large universe.”
Fans still expect a continuation of the “mature tone” that the Deadpool franchise has had before. In an interview with Wired, director Shawn Levy discussed the support Kevin Feige and Disney have given him to pursue the same atmosphere in the latest installment: “Not only have Kevin Feige and Marvel and Disney supported this extremely Deadpool-ian, audacious, R-rated tone, they’ve also supported our super meta, self-referential self-awareness…Some of the jokes are dirty, some of them are cultural observations, but that’s what we love about Deadpool, that he knows he’s in a movie, even though the stakes are real.”
Now that the strikes have ended, Deadpool 3 has restarted filming, but the increased activity on the film has come hand in hand with a myriad of online spoilers, which Ryan Reynolds has personally addressed. Reynolds explained the following on Instagram Stories: “Surprises are part of the magic of theatrical movies…It’s important for us to shoow the new DEADPOOL film in real, natural environments, using practical effects as opposed to making the movie indoors and digitally. Telephoto lenses continue to spoil surprises and create a difficult situation for everyone.”
Reynolds also commented on movie magic, adding, “Here’s hoping some of the websites and social channels hold back from showing images before they’re ready…The film is built for audience joy — and our highest hope is to preserve as much of that magic as possible for the finished film and the big screen.”
