Ewan McGregor Talks ‘Trainspotting,’ Acting Alongside Daughter

Ewan McGregor has a host of kid-friendly movies for his children to watch – Star Wars comes to mind but recently said that he prefers to show Trainspotting to his kids.

“I wasn’t there when [his daughter] Clara watched Trainspotting for the first time. But I did used to show my kids ‘the toilet scene.’ Just for a laugh,” he said recently at the Karlovy Vary Film Festival in the Czech Republic. “It’s a unique situation, perhaps, for a father to be able to show his children footage of him going down the toilet.” He also said that Clara watched Moulin Rouge very young, which resulted in many emotions.

McGregor was at the festival to promote his role in Emma Westenberg’s You Sing Loud, I Sing Louder, which saw him starring alongside Clara as a father and daughter pair. “It was a beautiful experience,” he said of acting alongside his daughter, who also helped to write the movie.

As McGregor accepted the Karlovy Vary President’s Award, he talked more about filming with his daughter.

McGregor can also be seen in his recent Obi-Wan Kenobi series for Disney+ and is currently filming a limited series titled A Gentleman in Moscow for Paramount+.
