With the two-part script book of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child having recently hit shelves, and the the franchise spinoff film, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, opening this November, the wizarding world couldn’t be in higher spirits. The Harry Potter movie franchise reigned supreme during its decade-long run, and will probably stay atop the pack for years to come. Not only that, Warner Bros. already has so much faith in the future success of Fantastic Beasts, the studio has announced a sequel coming in late 2018.
Over the last few months, fans have had many great looks at the spinoff. Trailers, TV spots, and many wonderful posters have showcased the mysterious world that awaits us. With the film’s release quickly nearing, Entertainment Weekly chose Fantastic Beasts as the cover for their latest issue. See it below.
Based on the book (and written for the screen) by J.K. Rowling, the film tells the story of Magizoologist Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne), who arrives in 1920s New York with a strange belonging. He carries a case that’s filled with magical creatures, but it’s is accidentally opened, releasing unpredictable chaos into the city. It takes place long before the Harry Potter series, although there apparently are hints and teases to it. This new look is just another reminder of what delightful magic Fantastic Beasts possesses, especially with someone like Redmayne at its forefront.
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them opens in U.S. theaters on November 18, 2016, followed by Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them 2 on November 16, 2018.
