Eva Longoria to Direct Cheetos Biopic ‘Flamin’ Hot’

Dora the Explorer star Eva Longoria is getting cheese on her hands as the actress and director is now attached to coordinate the upcoming film Flamin’ Hot for Fox Searchlight, biopic about snack food connoisseur Richard Montanez, who famously developed the spicy Flamin’ Hot Cheetos according to Deadline. The film will be produced by DeVon Franklin under his Franklin Entertainment umbrella.

After a brief search, Longoria reportedly beat out several directors for the role impressing both Franklin and Fox with her unique and authentic approach to telling the inspiring tale of Montanez. The premise of Flamin’ Hot explores Montanez’s incredible emergence to prominence in a snack food empire. Child of a Mexican immigrant, Montanez began his snack food career at the bottom as a lowly janitor at Frito-Lay when he conceived the concept of Flamin’ Hot Cheetos to passing executives. Inspired by the spices derived from his native community, Montanez’s conception of the new Cheetos revitalized Frito-Lay and a created a cultural phenomenon widely-recognized today.

Charlie St. Cloud and October Sky writer Lewis Colick was commissioned to write the film’s script while Zahra Phillips and Taylor Friedman will supervise the project alongside executive producer Samuel Rodriguez.

Longoria can currently be spotted in theaters now in Dora and the Lost City of Gold.
