Step aside, James Bond. Ethan Hunt is back for his fifth round of gravity-defying action in Paramount’s Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation. Tom Cruise returns as the international spy, joined by his team played by Simon Pegg (Shaun of the Dead) and Jeremy Renner (The Avengers), along with newcomer Rebecca Ferguson (Hercules). In this latest installment, Hunt has been fitted with the impossible task of taking down the Syndicate, a “rogue nation” described by Pegg’s Benji Dunn as the “anti-IMF.”
Directed by Christopher McQuarrie (Jack Reacher), the film is poised to hit theaters on July 31. The teaser brings with it a feeling of relief after the film recently experienced a production shut-down while the filmmakers re-tinkered with its unsatisfactory ending.
While this is just a preview of the full trailer, which will be released on March 23, it does not hold back on the action. Audiences are treated to intricate fight scenes, free falls, Hunt’s signature motorbike, and his most elevated stunt yet—bracing himself on the side of an airborne plane.
