The popular Japanese manga and anime series My Hero Academia is getting its second movie. The franchise’s first movie, titled My Hero Academia: Two Heroes, had limited international release in 2018 and was a critical success. Now, according to Collider, My Hero Academia: Heroes Rising will also be released in over 1,000 select theaters throughout the US and Canada. Anime News Network reports that the movie was already released in theater in Japan this past December, where it was a huge financial success.
Both subtitled and English dubbed versions of My Hero Academia: Heroes Rising are set to open in American and Canadian theaters on February 26th, and tickets should already be available for purchase online. Funimation Productions is responsible for distributing and dubbing the movie into English. Of course, the English voice actors for My Hero Academia will reprising their roles, including Justin Briner as main character Izuku Midoriya and Christopher Sabat (Vegeta from Dragon Ball Z) as Midoriya’s mentor All Might.
The English dub trailer was also recently released online. A synopsis of the movie’s plot, which can be found in the video’s official description, is as follows: “Class 1-A visits Nabu Island where they finally get to do real hero work. The place is so peaceful that it’s more like a vacation … until they’re attacked by a villain with an eerily familiar Quirk! Now, Deku and his friends are the island’s only hope.” Catch the trailer below.
