‘Encanto’ Co-Director Jared Bush Shares Deleted Post-Credits Scene

[THIS ARTICLE CONTAINS SPOILERS OF ENCANTO]

A deleted after credits scene from Encanto was shared by Jared Bush on Twitter. The after credits scene depicts Chispi the capybara being doused with water.

Bush co-directed Encanto with Byron Howard. Bush also co-wrote the screenplay with Charise Castro Smith. Other notable projects from Bush are Moana where he served as a writer and Zootopia where he served as a writer and co-director.

Encanto first premiered in theaters on November 3rd, 2021, and was added to Disney Plus on November 24th, 2021. The film follows protagonist Mirabel, who is the only one in the magical Madrigal family to not possess special powers.

Mirabel is voiced by Stephanie Beatriz, who is best known for the role of Detective Rosa Diaz in Brooklyn Nine-Nine.

Bush mentions that the reason the after credits scene was not included was because it would take away from the emotional ending. Even though the scene did not make it into the final film, Bush made sure to share it and credit the animator, Darrin Butters. Post-credit scenes have become common in films, and often serve as one final joke to the audience. The choice to not include one in Encanto means that one of the most memorable things the audience will remember from the film is the family coming back together.

Jackson Fanelli: I am currently pursuing my masters degree in Creative Writing from Full Sail University. My life passions revolve around artistic expression through both writing and acting. I was introduced to the arts through acting in musicals and plays. I hope to pursue screenwriting for television. I have an interest in studying the arts and what interests audiences which has led me to writing about films at MXDWN.
