Mirroring the previously released teaser for Damien Chazelle‘s (Whiplash) modern musical La La Land, the film’s new footage features Emma Stone taking center stage. Where Ryan Gosling first took the reigns, singing sweet nothings over a montage of dialogue-free scenes, Stone in turn croons to Gosling, singing ‘Audition’, one of the original songs from the film’s soundtrack.
Following a jazz pianist (Gosling) who falls in love with an aspiring actress (Stone), La La Land looks to be giving modern audiences a nostalgic piece of old Hollywood, with Gosling and Stone filling in the shoes of Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers for a new generation.
La La Land is soon set to premiere at the Venice Film Festival on August 31. The film also stars Chazelle’s Whiplash Oscar winner J.K. Simmons, as well as Finn Wittrock (The Big Short), Rosemare DeWitt (Rachel Getting Married), and R&B crooner John Legend, among others.
