In a recent promotional interview with Deadline for her film The Smashing Machine, Emily Blunt offered a brief update on the status of A Quiet Place III. The sci-fi horror, which will be written and directed by her husband John Krasinski, will mark the fourth installment in the franchise. Prior films included, A Quiet Place (2018), A Quiet Place Part II (2021), and A Quiet Place: Day One (2024).
The sequel was initially scheduled for release on July 9, 2027, however, Paramount moved the film to July 30, 2027. The change avoids box-office competition with James Gunn’s Man of Tomorrow. A Quiet Place franchise has been a major commercial success, grossing more than $900 million worldwide to date.
In her update, the eight-time Golden Globe nominee, said, “I’m excited about everything right now because John is currently in his monastic writing cell just dreaming it up and he has barely told me anything.”
The original A Quiet Place, written by Scott Beck and Bryan Woods and directed by Krasinski, follows a mother (Blunt) and father (Krasinski) struggling to protect their children in a world overrun by blind alienlike creatures that hunt by sound. The film premiered at South by Southwest before becoming a breakout hit, earning more than $340 million worldwide.
Its follow-up, A Quiet Place Part II, was released in theaters in 2021 after a pandemic-related delay, with Krasinski returning to write and direct, and Cillian Murphy joining the cast. The sequel became the highest-grossing Hollywood release of the COVID-era box office.
Blunt was also asked about the highly anticipated sequel to The Devil Wears Prada. While she declined to offer any details, she did mention that a highlight of the original film was meeting her future brother-in-law, Stanley Tucci.
