Eiza González, who’s known best for her roles in the films Baby Driver and I Care A Lot, is set to star in an upcoming thriller from The Tale director Jennifer Fox, entitled, Wolf Country. The film package is currently being handled by Endeavor Content and 51 Entertainment, according to Deadline.
In the film, González will play a young deputy who’s shunned from her community after discovering a large supply of drugs leading to a ranch that is owned by the town’s beloved Sheriff, her father. When he escapes custody and flees into the wilderness of Colorado, his daughter is forced to face him and bring him to justice. The script is being handled by Pete Begler.
Fox’s last directorial effort, The Tale, released in 2018 and earned high acclaim. The film was nominated for 2 primetime Emmys for Outstanding Television Movie and lead actress Laura Dern was nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited Series or Movie. The Tale was also given 3 nominations at that year’s Film Independent Spirit Awards.
González recently lent her voice to Dreamworks‘ animated sequel, Spirit Untamed. She’s also set to star in Michael Bay‘s upcoming action thriller, Ambulance, alongside Jake Gyllenhaal, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, and Garret Dillahunt.
It looks like Wolf Country doesn’t currently have a clear buyer, so it may be a bit before we get a solid release window. It’s also currently unclear who will be cast as the main character’s father in the upcoming film.
