The Fast & Furious movies have become some of the highest grossing movies of all time, continually becoming bigger and bigger with each installment. But when Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson became a part of the cast as Detective Hobbes, he instantly became a fan favorite, raising box office revenue in the process.
The Fate Of The Furious made over one billion dollars worldwide beating out Star Wars The Last Jedi, Avengers Age Of Ultron and even Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part 2. In addition, Johnson’s chemistry with Jason Statham was hugely entertaining and was most likely one of the driving forces behind producers wanting to make a spin off movie featuring the duo.
The spin off film titled Hobbs and Shaw, will feature Johnson and Statham starring alongside each other along with Idris Elba. Deadline just revealed that Eiza Gonzalez, who starred in the brilliantly directed Baby Driver and upcoming Welcome To Marwen, has joined the cast of the film. David Leitch, who directed Deadpool 2, Atomic Blonde, and co-directed the exceptional John Wick, is set to helm the film with Chris Morgan’s script. Morgan has written six Fast & Furious films and produced three of them.
With an all star cast, a reliable action director and a long time writer for the series, Hobbs and Shaw is shaping up to be a formidable blockbuster at the movies.
