We’ve been hearing about Dwayne Johnson being set to star in a Black Adam movie for quite a while, and in an Instagram post on Sunday, the actor finally revealed a release date for the anticipated DC comic book adaptation. The film will release July 29, 2022.
“A disruptive and unstoppable global force of a message from the man in black himself,” reads the post’s caption. “BLACK ADAM is coming July 29, 2022. The hierarchy of power in the DC Universe is about to change. #BlackAdam⚡️ #ManInBlack #GlobalForce @BlackAdamMovie”
The post is aided by a short video of every screen in Times Square turning off and syncing together to reveal the release date for Black Adam. The short visual teaser also aired during the NCAA game that happened on Sunday. Production on the film is set to begin in Atlanta in April.

Jaume Collet-Serra, who’s also directing the upcoming Disney film Jungle Cruise, which stars Johnson and Emily Blunt, will be directing Black Adam. The script on the film is still being worked on.
It was recently announced that Pierce Brosnan would be playing Dr. Fate in the new film. Aldis Hodge will star as Hawkman, Noah Centenio will play Atom Smasher and Quintessa Swindell will play Cyclone.
