Dwayne Johnson and Jason Momoa on Maui Wildfires

The wildfires in Maui that started last week have left several residents without a home. Dwayne Johnson, in an Instagram video posted on Sunday, spoke on the situation. He said, “I know that, by now, all of you around the world have seen the complete destruction and devastation that has hit our Hawaiian islands – our island of Maui – and I’m completely heartbroken over this and I know all of you are too.”

Deadline also noted the caption of the post, which includes words of encouragement. The caption starts, “Heartbroken but our faith and mana is strong, First responders, health care teams, hotels, local businesses, boots on the ground organizations and all our local heroes, stay strong – we love you and appreciate you.”

Johnson isn’t the only one speaking on this scenario. Jason Momoa has been very active on Instagram, warning people to not travel to Maui, and to share how everyone around the world can help Maui to heal.

Momoa, on people traveling, said, “Maui is not the place to have your vacation right now. DO NOT TRAVEL TO MAUI. Do not convince yourself that your presence is needed on an island that is suffering this deeply.”

Momoa also reposted an Instagram post from @kanaeokana, an organization that focuses on developing and maintaining education for the next generation. The post reads, “How can we unite around the world to help Maui heal?” The post contains several support options for a benefit concert taking place in O’ahu and Hawai’i Island, as well as how others can support remotely.

Sunday, August 20th from 6:00-9:00 HST, tune into mele.com to listen to the benefit concert in support of Maui.
