Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson announced on an Instagram Live video that he and his family has contracted, and now recovered from, Covid-19. “I am happy to tell you guys that we as a family are good,” Johnson said. “We are on the other end of it. We are on the other side. We are no longer contagious. And we are – thank god – we are healthy.”
According to Johnson, his two daughters, ages 2 and 4, exhibited very minor symptoms for just a few days. He said it was a much more difficult battle for himself and his wife.
“I’ve gotten knocked about and gotten my ass kicked a little bit in the past with some challenges, but testing positive for Covid-19 is much different than overcoming nasty injuries or being evicted or even being broke,” Johnson said.
Johnson believes that his family contracted Covid-19 from close family friends. In his video, he urged his followers to wear masks and apply a greater discipline to themselves when it comes to having people over.
“If you guys are having family and friends and family over to your house… they’ve been quarantining just like you guys,” Johnson said. “You still never know.”
The 48-year-old actor believes that part of the reason he was able to recover from the virus is due to his commitment to staying healthy. Johnson hasn’t appeared in any films during 2020, but he’ll appear in Disney’s Jungle Cruise alongside Emily Blunt in summer 2021 and in the DC superhero spin-off Black Adam in winter 2021.
