Dreamworks’ Critically Acclaimed Film ‘The Wild Robot’ Sequel Gets The Green Light

Dreamworks’ newest animated film, The Wild Robot, took the world by surprise amassing over $100 million globally after its debut. It has received critical acclaim and has moved audiences with its sentimental storytelling. Writer-director Chris Sanders’ adaptation of Peter Brown’s book of the same name has demonstrated to be a true success, making for the next books in the series to be picked up by Dreamworks and for Roz’s adventures to continue.

Deadline confirmed news that The Wild Robot will be getting a sequel at their Contenders event in London on October 12. Sanders was asked whether we would be getting any more movies at the event and he quickly confirmed saying, “100% yes there are absolutely plans for a second one.” Due to the overwhelming success of the first film, it is no surprise that a sequel is on the way. Those who have come across Brown’s The Wild Robot know that it is just the first book in the trilogy that is The Wild Robot Escapes and The Wild Robot Protects. These books all center around the same message of the relationship between technology and the environment, as well as, how we can help the world become a better place.

There is yet to be any confirmation as to who will return from the original cast, consisting of Lupita Nyong’o’s Roz, Pedro Pascal, Kit Connor, and Bill Nighy. We also do not know what the film will be about and what will be adapted from the book. However, we cannot help but be excited for more stories about Roz’s adventures to come to life.
