DreamWorks Animation Goes Back In Time For a 3D ‘Mr. Peabody and Sherman’

Characters created for the 1960’s animated TV series The Rocky and Bullwinkle Show have been updated for the 3D animated adventure comedy Mr. Peabody & Sherman. Ty Burrell, the comedic Dad from TV’s Modern Family, is the voice of comedic doggy-dad Mr. Peabody.

Mr. Peabody is the most advanced and intelligent being on earth. He’s a business titan, a Nobel-Laureate, a two time Olympic gold medalist and, most importantly, an inventor. He’s responsible for the creation of the WABAC time machine that allows him and his adopted son Sherman to go back in time and experience some of the most exciting people in history first hand – while trying to avert disaster to the space-time continuum.

Directed by Academy Award winning Rob Minkoff (The Lion King), the voice cast is packed with a time-capsule of funny people including: Max Charles (The Amazing Spider Man) as Sherman, Stephen Colbert (The Colbert Report), Ariel Winter (Alex on Modern Family), Stanley Tucci (The Lovely Bones), and the one and only Mel Brooks (The Producers).

Alex Schwartz and Denise Nolan Cascino are producing with DreamWorks animation and Bullwinkle Studios from a script by Craig Wright with characters created by Ted Key.

Mr. Peabody & Sherman, which debuts in U.S. theaters on March 7, 2014, will be accompanied by a short DreamWorks film based on Rocky and Bullwinkle characters as a test for future development. Gary Trousdale (Beauty and the Beast) directs, with June Foray reprising her role as the voice of Rocky and Tom Kenny as the voice of Bullwinkle.
