Donald Trump has called out Netflix to fire board member Susan Rice, or they will have to “pay the consequences.” Trump posted on Truth Social Saturday, writing,
Netflix should fire racist, Trump Deranged Susan Rice IMMEDIATELY, or pay the consequences. She’s got no talent or skills-Purely a political hack! HER POWER IS GONE, AND WILL NEVER BE BACK. How much is she being paid, and for what??? Thank you for your attention to this matter.
This post was accompanied by a screenshot of Laura Loomer’s X response to Rice’s comments on her Thursday appearance on the Stay Tuned with Preet podcast, with Loomer writing,
This is as anti-American as it gets, and Netflix is proving every day they are an anti-American, WOKE company. Rice is basically openly saying that Democrats will go after anyone and everyone who supported President Trump, embracing weaponized lawfare against potentially millions of Americans.
The comments that Rice, who previously served as the U.S. National Security Advisor from 2013-2017, made that the President deemed “fireable” centered around the topic of corporations taking “a knee to Trump,” and how they, along with media outlets and law firms, are beginning to realize that siding with Trump out of their “very narrow self-interest” is “not popular”, furthermore “Trump is not popular.” Rice also makes promises that these corporations will be held accountable when Democrats “come back into power,” and what Loomer describes as “an accountability agenda,” in her tweet. Rice explains,
If these corporations think that Democrats, when they come back in power, are going to play by the old rules, and say, ‘Never mind, we will forgive you for all the people you fired and all the policies and principles you violated, all the laws you skirted,’ I think they got another thing coming…We are not going to play by the old set of rules when these guys are playing by a different set of rules. We are going to play by the law. We are not going to violate the law like they did. But we are not going to be suckers.
At the end of her response tweet, Loomer calls on Trump to stop the merger between Netflix and Warner Bros., arguing that it would “result in a streaming monopoly which the Obamas will have a significant stake in.” Though Trump, since early February, has publicly stated that he will be staying out of Paramount and Netflix’s bidding war over Warner Bros. Discovery, saying,
I must say, I guess I’m considered to be a very strong president. I’ve been called by both sides. It’s the two sides, but I’ve decided I shouldn’t be involved. The Justice Department will handle it.
Netflix has not officially responded to Trump’s comments as of yet.
