Domhnall Gleeson is continuing his quest to become a household name.
The 32-year old Irish actor just signed on to star in a Netflix original movie A Futile And Stupid Gesture, centered around the founding of comedy behemoth National Lampoon. Gleeson will play co-founder Henry Beard, opposite Will Forte who will be playing the other founding member Doug Kenny. National Lampoon is iconic for launching many careers including John Belushi and John Hughes all the way to Ryan Reynolds, as well as making some of the most memorable comedies like Animal House, Caddyshack, Vacation, and Van Wilder. David Wain will be directing the film, whose script was adapted from the Josh Karp book of the same name.
Gleeson is coming off a widely successful 2015 which saw him in roles in Ex Machina, Brooklyn, The Revenant and Star Wars: The Force Awakens. He will also appear alongside Tom Cruise in in the Doug Liman directed Mena and make his return in the Star Wars sequel next year as well. Gleeson is repped by Paradigm and Dublin-based The Agency’s Karl Hayden. No official release date has been announced for A Futile And Stupid Gesture
