Disney is making moves on some of its biggest titles as well several of its (relatively) smaller releases. The most exciting release dates slated include the Frozen sequel taking the November 27, 2019 slot previously held by an “untitled animation title”; Star Wars: Episode IX, coming out on May 24, 2019 and breaking recent tradition with their Christmas debuts; and also, the live-action Lion King on July 19, 2019, which currently has Donald Glover, James Earl Jones, Seth Rogen, and Billy Eichner in starring voice roles.
The Lion King has replaced the release of the latest Indiana Jones installment which has been pushed back a year to July 10, 2020 — fun fact: star Harrison Ford will be turning 78 that year. The ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’ animated musical Gigantic will be gestating for two more years than planned, leaving its 2018 slot for November 25, 2020. Also set for a Thanksgiving release is the Wreck it Ralph sequel, Ralph Breaks the Internet on November 21, 2018.
Coming to us just one month earlier is Ava DuVernay’s A Wrinkle in Time, now due on March 9, 2018. Taking it’s previous date is the live-action film Magic Camp on April 6, 2018, which stars Gillian Jacobs (Netflix’s Love), Adam Devine (Pitch Perfect), Aldis Hodge (Straight Outta Compton), and Emmy winner Jeffrey Tambor.
