The new DC Universe is soon to get its new installment off the ground with Supergirl’s release next month. As the film draws closer to its debut, James Gunn has just confirmed the rumored status of another major DC team’s debut in the universe.
The DC Universe, under the leadership of James Gunn and Peter Safran, had its first theatrical outing last year with Superman, which reintroduced the Man of Steel to audiences for the first time in several years. On top of Superman, some of the other confirmed projects are bringing in many other DC mainstays, such as new versions of Green Lantern as well as Clayface.
One group of characters in particular, however, that fans are clamoring for is the Teen Titans. Much like Batman, it’s confirmed that a movie with the Teen Titans is slated to happen, but still has a long way to go until it gets moving. Despite this, a rumor recently made its way around with an “inside source” confirming Gunn had found a potential director for the project.
When this was brought directly to Gunn, he shut the rumor down immediately. “No it’s not true,” he said in his response on Threads. “Not talking to any directors quite yet. This ‘insider’ isn’t inside much.”
Screenrant noted that despite this news being a potential blow to fans looking forward to the film, there’s a silver lining to it. They point specifically to Gunn saying that no directors are in talks “just yet,” with that implying that the Teen Titans films could happen sooner than fans expect.
