Director Teases Travolta and Cage Possibly Returning to the Sequel to ‘Face/Off’

Earlier this year it was reported that sequel is in development to the 1997 action movie Face/OffThe project is being directed by Adam Wingard, who is also the director of Godzilla Vs. Kong, and the script being written by Simon Barrett.

While not much is currently known about this upcoming sequel Movie Web recently reported that Wingard is teasing that the stars of the first movie, John Travolta and Nicholas Cage, could be appearing in this new movie. Wingard promised that this movie is not going to be a remake or a reboot of the original movie, and that it will be a full fledged sequel to the first Face/Off and will continue its plot. This means that if Travolta and Cage are going to be in this new movie they would most likely be reprising their original roles.

In the first movie Travolta played an FBI agent named Sean Archer who uses an experimental surgery to swaps faces with a criminal mastermind named Castor Troy, who is played by Cage, in order to go under cover. Unfortunately Troy manages to place Archer’s face on his own body and steal his identity. (Spoiler warning!) Cage’s character actually dies at the end of the movie, so it is unknown how he would be able to return for the sequel.
