Director Patty Jenkins Hints at Time Period for ‘Wonder Woman 3’

While promoting her series I Am the Night at Sundance, director Patty Jenkins spoke to The Hollywood Reporter about the time period in which she is thinking Wonder Woman 3 will be set in. “I’m not planning to put it in the past again, because where are you going to go? You have to go forward. It’s definitely a contemporary story. That’s all I can say. Where we put it and how that gets figured out, I haven’t totally nailed down,” Jenkins said.

The next film in the franchise, Wonder Woman 1984, will be set in the 1980s and will have Wonder Woman experiencing conflict within the Cold War setting. The film, which is set to release June 5, 2020, will also star Kristen Wiig as the female villainess Cheetah, according to tweet from Jenkins earlier last year.

While unsure what a contemporary setting would look like for Wonder Woman, audiences witnessed Wonder Woman venturing into more recent times with her appearance in Justice League, possibly giving an idea of what Wonder Woman 3 may have in store for viewers.
