Director of ‘Mission Impossible-Dead Reckoning’ Discuss The Comparisons Of Uncharted 2

Mission Impossible has been one of the longest movie franchises that continues to raise the stakes as Tom Cruise continues to do death-defying stunts. Lately, fans have taken notice that a scene looked oddly similar to the video game Uncharted 2: Among Thieves. The director Christopher McQuarrie has discussed the comparisons between it and the train scene in Mission Impossible- Dead Reckoning. In Mission Impossiblethere’s a train sequence similar to Uncharted 2 where Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) is climbing inside of the train and dangling over the edge.

The co-director of Uncharted 2, Bruce Straley stated that the game was an inspiration for Mission Impossible’s train scene, which he expressed his amusement for, calling it “the sincerest form of flattery.” In contrast, Mission Impossible director McQuarrie said he didn’t know much about the gaming industry. Fans called him out on him citing Uncharted for a stunt in his previous work in Rogue Nation, only for McQuarrie to clarify that “uncharted” was used in a literal sense about the scene and not the game.

Either way, McQuarrie’s directing for Mission Impossible-Dead Reckoning had similar action-packed scenes of a middle-aged protagonist who does major life-threatening stunts along with treasure hunting which is similar to the game Uncharted.
