Iconic director David Lynch, known for some of his films such as Eraserhead and Blue Velvet has passed away. He was 78 at the time of his death. Since his start in the film industry, Lynch has worked on a vast multitude of films. As mentioned, his first one perhaps most iconic film was Eraserhead, which saw a new father struggle to balance his home and his job.
Lynch had a hand in many aspects of Eraserhead, taking up directing, producing, editing, writing, production design, and even composer. The film still continues to be discussed nearly 50 years after its release, with many fans attempting to unpack the themes and meaning behind Lynch’s story.
Lynch also wrote and directed other projects such as Mulholland Drive, The Eleohant Man, and the acclaimed Twin Peaks films. He would also make several cameo appearances in films as well, including as director John Ford in Steven Spielberg’s The Fabelmans.
Variety noted that Lynch’s passing comes after he revealed a diagnosis with emphysema. As a result, it was reported he wouldn’t be able to leave his house due to the chance of arising more complications with the condition.
