A24’s new film, titled Dicks: The Musical, just released its first trailer, which showcases Megan Thee Stallion in her acting debut on the big screen. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film stars Aaron Jackson and Josh Sharp, who co-wrote the film together based on their stage show Fucking Identical Twins.
The show and its respective new film follows two businessmen who realize they are identical twins separated at birth, as they attempt to bring their parents back together. The film is directed by Borat’s Larry Charles, and is set to release in theaters this September.
Dicks: The Musical will be the opener to this year’s Toronto Film Festival’s Midnight Madness. It stars Aaron Jackson, Josh Sharp, Megan Thee Stallion, Nathan Lane, Megan Mullally, and Bowen Yang. This movie musical’s trailer showcases one song of many, with a few being “Gay Old Life”, “All Love is Love”, “Out-Alpha the Alpha”, and “The Sewer Song”, as stated in the trailer itself.
The Hollywood Reporter notes that “Megan Thee Stallion previously showed off her acting chops in Starz’s P-Valley while Nathan Lane was most recently seen on the small screen in Only Murders in the Building.”
