Dick Van Dyke will be on screen once again with a CBS tribute to his legacy and contribution to the film and television world. The 2 hour special, Dick Van Dyke 98 Years of Magic, will air on CBS Television Network on Thursday, December 21 from 9:00 to 11:00 PM, ET/PT. The show will also be available live and on-demand on Paramount+ for Showtime. 

Dick Van Dyke began his film career with his role in the movie adaptation of Bye Bye Birdie in 1963, where he played Albert J. Peterson. He has been in countless iconic roles since then, most notably Mary Poppins (1964), Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (1968), and The Dick Van Dyke Show (1961-1966). The special will return to the set of The Dick Van Dyke Show and will include special guests, dance, musical numbers, and a holiday performance. 

Van Dyke spoke about the tribute to Deadline, “I started with CBS under contract in 1955 with the CBS morning show, then The Dick Van Dyke Show and Diagnosis Murder. I’ve been with the CBS family for almost 70 years, and I couldn’t be prouder. I’m incredibly honored that CBS will be throwing a 98th birthday special for me. Can’t wait to be part of the show!”  

Dick Van Dyke and his wife Arlene Silver are set to produce alongside Smart Dog Media and White Label Productions.
