Iron Man 3 spoilers etc, etc…
All Hail the King, a short film about Iron Man 3 villain The Mandarin will be included on the Blu-Ray for Thor: The Dark World, which will be released on February 25. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Drew Pearce, a writer for Iron Man 3 and the writer/director of All Hail the King, outlined the plot and premise. EW also has a few images of Ben Kingsley in his role as Trevor Slattery.
Said Pearce, “Imagine a real terrorist organization whose beliefs were long held and religious for thousands of years, and imagine a drunk, British actor coming along and essentially telling the world that he’s the face of your organization. I think they would be right to be quite angry.” The short shows Trevor (Kingsley) enjoying his newfound fame in prison until an interview with a documentary filmmaker informs Trevor that, unknown to him, he was impersonating a real warlord. Pearce went on to confirm what comic fans suspected; The Ten Rings terrorist cell from the original Iron Man was indeed part of The Mandarin’s organization.
After seeing the short EW’s Anthony Breznican called it both “an epilogue to Iron Man 3,” and “a possible prequel to Iron Man 4.” While Pearce did not officially announce a fourth Iron Man movie, he did acknowledge the possibility of continuing the story. Some of us here at mxdwn Movies would certainly appreciate a proper confrontation for Iron Man and his most iconic foe. Now that Marvel has confirmed that The Mandarin has been Tony Stark’s nemesis from the beginning, a clash between the two seems more appropriate than ever.
