Mikey Madison won the Academy Award on Sunday night for her starring role in Anora, which was directed, written, and edited by Sean Baker. Demi Moore was one of her fellow contenders, nominated for her role in The Substance.

Following Madison’s Oscar win, Demi Moore praised Madison on Instagram by writing,

As this awards season comes to a close, I’m so overwhelmed with gratitude for this journey. It’s been the ride of a lifetime and we’re just getting started! So grateful for my team, my fellow nominees, and everyone who has made this experience so full of joy and light… And a huge congratulations to Mikey Madison — can’t wait to see what you do next.

Mikey Madison noted in her acceptance speech how she wanted to honor and recognize the sex worker community, considering her role in Anora features a sex worker. In regards to her fellow nominees, Madison closed her acceptance speech by saying,

I also just want to recognize the thoughtful, intelligent, beautiful, breathtaking work of my fellow nominees. I’m honored to be recognized alongside all of you. This is a dream come true.

Demi Moore was recognized at the 2025 Golden Globe Awards, where she won Best Actress in a musical or comedy motion picture for her role in The Substance.
