Just in time for Valentine’s Day, a teaser trailer has been released for Adrian Lyne’s new erotic thriller Deep Water starring Ben Affleck and Ana de Armas.
The teaser offers a sexually charged glimpse into the life of Vic Van Allen and Melinda Van Allen, played by Affleck and Armas. With the soothing sound of water providing the background, Armas asks why Affleck is the only man that ever wants to stay with her. She goes on to tell him that there is something wrong with her, at which point Affleck states there is also something wrong with him. The short conversation is interspersed with suggestive shots and breaths that seem to promise something salacious.
The plot synopsis for the film promises intrigue and something more adult along the lines of the erotic thrillers that had a hold on the box office in the early 90s:
A well-to-do husband who allows his wife to have affairs in order to avoid a divorce becomes a prime suspect in the disappearance of her lovers.
Lyne is no stranger to this kind of film, having previously directed some of the more famous erotic thrillers of the last three decades. His previous works such as 9 1/2 Weeks, Fatal Attraction, Indecent Proposal, and Unfaithful have all become classics in the genre and helped usher the genre into theaters. This is his first film since Unfaithful and from all appearances seems to be a return to form.
