DC Studios has recently undergone massive changes, from an internal organization, rebooting its upcoming film slate, and the current, brand new logo makeover. The new logo was revealed to audiences at the Comic-Con on July 26 during screenings of the upcoming DC Studio projects. The new logo is a personal touch of flair for the new direction the studio is heading in under James Gun and Peter Safran who used the earlier classic comic book style of the ‘bullet’ look to revamp the simple letter font of the previous version.
The new logo sees the addition of a blue ring with four white stars and the return of the older font introduced by Milton Glaser the original designer of the current logo’s first version seen on the comics. Glaser was a large name in the world of logos and icons, Gunn and Safran calling back to his work with the film studio’s new rebrand. Along with the first ‘DC bullet’ logo Glaser also designed the ever-popular and beloved ‘I love NY’ logo still found on shirts today.
Gunn shared in a delightful post on X, previously Twitter, the new logo on a shirt and the quote, “When Peter and I formed DC Studios we immediately knew what logo we wanted to use,” implying that this return to tradition was always their plan. The logo also appeared on all the trailers and video announcements for the DC slate including a new Super Girl: Woman of Tomorrow film, and an upcoming Andy Muschetti Batman film titled Brave and the Bold. The Authority was also revealed to be in production and a new animated series for television Creature Commandos will air at the end of the year.
