David Dastmalchian, Marin Ireland, Vivien Lyra Blair, Madison Hu Join the Adaptation of Stephen King’s Novel ‘The Boogeyman’

Deadline has reported on recent casting news regarding the upcoming film The Boogeyman. The film has recently cast David Dastmalchian, who recently appeared as Piter De Vries in the Best Picture nominated film Dune. Marin Ireland, known for her role as Delores Sheeran in The Irishman, Vivien Lyra Blair, known for her role as “the girl” in Bird Box, and Madison Hu, known for her role as Edith in Voyagers. They join Chris Messina, known for his role as Victor in Birds of Prey, and Sophie Thatcher, known for her breakout role as Natalie in the hit Showtime series Yellowjackets.

The Boogeyman is adapted from the Stephen King short story of the same name. The story follows two children who recently lost their mother facing a supernatural creature. Films adapted from King’s works are known to be filled with supernatural elements. The story had been adapted into a short film in 1982 and again in 2012. A short story being adapted into a feature film offers unique challenges involving extending the run time.

The film will be directed by Rob Savage, who has experience directing thriller and horror films with such directorial credits as Host and Dashcam.

The film will release in 2023 on Hulu.

Jackson Fanelli: I am currently pursuing my masters degree in Creative Writing from Full Sail University. My life passions revolve around artistic expression through both writing and acting. I was introduced to the arts through acting in musicals and plays. I hope to pursue screenwriting for television. I have an interest in studying the arts and what interests audiences which has led me to writing about films at MXDWN.
